Apakah saya ingin mati? Tunggu, mundur sedikit lagi. Sedari awal, apakah saya ...

Digital Literacies and My Identities

Hello, citizen of the net! It's nice to see you again. Today is my first English lesson on 11th grade so here I'll be talking about the first chapter of our book.  Our teacher threw this trigger question: "What comes to your mind when you hear the phrase 'digital literacy'?" In my opinion, I see digital literacy as one's ability to find, use, create, and evaluate information using information and communication technology by reading, writing, and listening. It's a combination of other soft skills as well, like critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. This kind of ability has so many benefits, such as to gain wider knowledge, increase online safety, improves social skills.  Digital literacies can influence our online identities, whether as an individual or as a group. The knowledge and skills about personal data can prevent us from being hacked, because we know what kind of passwords should we use for our account, how to keep our ...

Advantages of Teaching Religion Lessons in Schools Religion lessons in Indonesian schools have become a compulsory subject to this day, bearing in mind that our country is a religious country because of the 1st precept, namely "the one and only God".  However, unfortunately some people think that religious studies make some people use religion as a tool of violence/weapon.  Eliminating religion lesson doesn't stop  religious violence. In fact, it helps students to clear the misunderstanding of what they are actually taught in their holy books.  There are two verses from two different religions about it. “If two parties among the believers fall into a quarrel, make you peace between them with justice and be fair. For God loves those who are fair. The believers are but a single brotherhood; so make peace between your brothers." (Qur’an 49:9-10, cited in Abu-Nimer, 2010, p.83). Galatians 5:22-23 (Christians) “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance,...

Reported Speech Assignment

Yesterday's Most Memorable Conversation Question:  What was the most memorable conversation you had yesterday? Who were you talking to and what did they say to you? Answer: The most memorable conversation I had yesterday was about the English debate competition I did on last Sunday. I was talking to my English teacher in elementary school. He congratulated me and my team for winning the competition. He was one of the best teachers I've ever had back in elementary school yet we haven't talked for such a long time. Although it was a short conversation, I dare to say that it was a pretty much memorable one as well. Pak Slamet: "Congratulations, Kenenza! You and your team did such a great job." Me: "Thank you very much, sir!" Pak Slamet: "What was the motion of the debate?" Me: "It was different for each round, sir. The first one was 'Vocational school is better than senior high school', the second one was 'Religion Subject Should ...

Me, Myself, and I in a Nutshell (also a self-love journey)

My full name is Rasendria Kenenza Nasyakalea, but almost everyone I know call me Kenen for short. Some people who don't know me yet call me Rasendria, though. This is my fifteenth year of living, such a blessing to have made it this far. I was born in Tangerang and stayed in Jakarta with my parents, grandparents, and uncle until the age of two. Then my father got another job, so my parents and I left Jakarta and moved to this romantic city named Bandung. My little sister was then born in 2010. Her name is Nyanya.  Me and Nyanya went to the same school. In Bahasa, it is called "Sekolah Katolik Santo Yusup 2 Bandung". It can be translated as "Saint Joseph 2 Catholic School". There are three units; kindergarten, elementary school, and junior high school. I graduated from its elementary and junior high. Nyanya did graduate from the elementary school as well, but now she's studying at its junior high. I had been having a splendid time there but then came COVID-19...

Untold Experiences: A Mysterious Senior (Recount Text Assignment)

Gambar
If  you're asking me about the most embarrassing moments I've experienced throughout my life, this story is probably the one I will always remember. It's not that bad, actually, but everytime I meet 'this girl' at school, I can't help but laugh awkwardly in private. Okay, so, let's begin the story.  There was an event held by my school to celebrate Indonesian Independence Day. The event took place at Lapangan Bali. It is an area for our students, teachers, and staffs to do sports or other physical activities. The area is divided into three units: basketball court, soccer field, and gymnasium.  The third tug of war match ended and it was time for lunch. Man, I was starving that I could eat myself. So, I decided to go to the gymnasium and eat the snack I've brought from home. Turned out that some of my classmates were there, too, eating their snacks. I was going to approach my them when I heard an unfamiliar voice shouting. "Hey! Do I know you?...
